The Flash Blog » The iPad provides the ultimate browsing experience?

Wow. That’s a pretty damning demo.

Which would have looked like this if it had been rendered in Flash instead of a JPEG:

Guess I’ll have to get used to the blue legos; until you get used to the rapidly accelerating irrelevance.

I have several designer friends who have been given the opportunity by their employers to learn Flash. When I hear this, I always try to at least warn them that Flash isn’t the best way to build a website, isn’t available on all devices (iPhone), and is becoming more and more unfavored among serious web creators.

Also, as of last week, YouTube and Vimeo (two sites that have helped make the case for Flash), gave me the option of turning on HTML5-based H.264 video playback instead of Flash. That means that I can now browse YouTube without using Flash. Amazing.

The iPad and YouTube prove the point — Flash is dead. It just doesn’t know it yet.
